Two of NorthWind’s partner organisations are awarded funding by the Research Council of Norway for offshore wind industry projects.
DOF Management gets 8 million NOK to develop a new cost-effective method for maintaining offshore wind turbines. Such maintenance is complex and costly, because the parts involved can be heavy, and the whole operation has to be conducted from a ship.
Vard Design gets 4.9 million NOK for a project to develop digitalised cooling and heating systems that will contribute to the zero-emissions goal for the offshore wind maintenance fleet. Since the power generation on these ships is expected to be based on battery solutions with offshore charging, it becomes important to reduce the ship’s energy usage, including heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
