NW centre director featured in USA Today article

The American daily newspaper USA Today features NorthWind centre director John Olav Tande in an article about president Biden’s announcement of an investment of 50 million USD in offshore wind power.

The Biden administration made its announcement last week, claiming that it intended to position itself to lead the world in floating offshore wind. The goal is to develop 15 GW of floating offshore wind by 2035. The article points out that there are many technical challenges to overcome before that vision becomes reality.

John Olav Tande is quoted saying that over 80% of wind resources globally are in deep water – which means they can only be leveraged with floating wind turbines.
