EERA JP wind developed, in close collaboration with leading industry partners, two lighthouse initiatives to address grand scientific and technical challenges that are crucial for the further advancement of offshore wind energy, and to provide new knowledge and a basis for innovation.
The two lighthouse initiatives are 1) Large scale integration of offshore wind, and 2) Floating wind energy. These are crucial for Europe to succeed with offshore wind, which itself is essential to reach climate targets, to secure the energy supply and to enhance a competitive European industry that will bring new green jobs and business.
The lighthouse initiatives were presented at the EERA Annual Strategy Meeting on 22-23 June in Prague. They were very well received as two strategically important initiatives that can possibly be a basis for a European Centre of Excellence on Offshore Wind Energy.
The video below explains the two proposed lighthouse initiatives.
The proposals themselves can be downloaded by clicking on the images below. Both documents were elaborated by the EU SETWind project, in close collaboration with EERA JP Wind and ETIPWind.
