Sustainable Development Goal interlinkages in the case of offshore wind: identifying synergies and trade-offs This workshop will focus on identifying trade-offs and synergies between the Sustainable Development Goals in the case of offshore wind. The current energy crisis has given more attention to the role renewables, and more specifically offshore wind, can play to make our energy system more sustainable: economically, socially but also environmentally. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have given us direction on what “sustainability” should entail. But how offshore wind truly impacts the sustainability objectives set by these 17 SDGs is hard to evaluate. To assess the long-term impacts of offshore wind on the SDGs, it is important to not only take the indirect and direct impacts to the SDGs into account, but also which “interlinked” effects occur between these SDGs, i.e., trade-offs and synergies. In the workshop, multidisciplinary groups will be formed in which the SDG interlinkages are discussed. The participants will be triggered to use their knowledge about offshore wind to identify trade-offs and synergies.
